Hi,
I bought this vintage 5513 with serial number 1.02X.XXX
The watch looks OK to me, nice gilt dial, pointed crown guards, good original bracelet, original yellow hands, ...
But 2 things bother me.
1- As you can see the bezel is not in good condition. I've seen worse but I've definitely seen better bezels.
2- The tritium is scratched of the dial. Should I keep ik like that (without tritium) or should I send it back to Geneva and ask them to put new tritium on it. But in that case it will not have the same color as the yellow-brow tritium in the hands.

Would you keep it like that or would you search for a 1965 bezel + a redone dial ??

Hello,
the last thing I would care about is the bezel.
It looks like there are tritium pieces on the dial, that seems to be the major problem.
Don't let this watch run - see your watchmaker to prevent damage.

Or just change this buy ;)

There are no pieces of tritium on the dial.
All the tritium is scratched off to avoid damage.

I've been told some watchmakers did this because old tritium can crumble off and get into the movement

hi bruno,

you got best advise from arndt !! look 'under' the bezel, bad corrosion there ... love that superdomed crystal ... ;)

all the best

I would be more concerned by the presence of the caseback sticker. It is obvious that the watch has had a hard life and was not cared for.

So, how can it possibly have a caseback sticker that shows little wear?

Looks like a collection of parts to me. Also, why does the dial say SWISS and not T SWISS T or SWISS T < 25?

I don't think it's a 'frankenwatch' or collection of parts.
I'm almost sure it is 100% correct.

The 'swiss' only is because of the age.
The first dials only mentioned 'SWISS', afterwards came the T SWISS T and the SWISS T > 25

Also see the little line under the word submariner ( this was only done on the early 60's dials)
Dials which are a little bit older had that line under 'perpetual' as you can see on the picture of another early 60's gilt dial

Hi.

The tritium doesnt look like original.

Also the dial is a little bit to small.
Take a look between "3 and 6" and about "8".
I think there`s something wrong.

Are you talking about the first pictures or the last one ??

The first one has no tritium like said and the last one is 100% original.

Best regards
