originally fitted gold or silver hands? i've seen both colored hands on the 5513s. was the hand color based on date of manufacture? or what was on hand at the factory? or location of manufacture? thanks...

Hi Larry,
I think it was date based from 53 - 63 (?) with gilt print and hands.

Not quite sure when they stopped the gilt ones, the Explorer was probably the last till 66.

hey there ardnt,

look at this one:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/exshark/gilt_dial1.jpg

this dial seems to have gold and silver gilt fonts and comes w/ it's original silver colored hands. i'm not sure if the dials w/ gold and silver gilt originally came w/ gold hands at any time or not. i am getting the serial tomorrow.

Hmmm, are you sure it's a gilt dial?

Here's a nice 5513 taken from our gallery:

ardnt,

yep, it's gilt. i just confirmed, it's all gold gilt (the picture made it look silver) and a 1.4 serial.

At least it's a glossy dial and looks good but I can't help with the hands.

Interested in buying that 5513?
