The Tokyo High Court Judgment
Officine Panerai is pleased to announce that the Tokyo High Court has issued a judgment, on July 28, prohibiting the sale by the Japanese company Ken Trading K.K. of copies of the Panerai Luminor watch. The watches previously being sold by Ken Trading were virtually identical in appearance to Panerai's Luminor series, featuring the trademark MARINA MILITARE, which is also closely associated with Panerai's heritage. The decision recognised that the manufacture and sale of Panerai imitations constitutes acts of unfair competition, or are contrary to the laws of unfair competition in Japan. This decision will contribute to preserving the exclusivity of the Panerai brand which has become a highly sought after luxury watch by aficionados in Japan and around the world.
