In some respects, I agree with you. In fact, the Red Sub pictured above is my 2nd one I've owned. Here's a photo of my first which I sold because the markers just had too much patina for my liking:

I'm much happier with the 2nd one I purchased as it's a model made in the same year I was born, I have the box and papers for it, and the markers are generally whiter on this model, though a couple of the markers are showing typical tritium deterioration/discoloration.

Thanks....When I had it restored, they changed the seals and gaskets, and pressure tested it...no worries! :gut:
Always amazing to see how watches after almost 40 years of production look so similar.

I agree Percy - it's part of the enduring charm of Rolex.

I think the success of Rolex lies in their watches still looking the same, and they have only had minor changes. That is what built their recognition level. I doubt that there is a second watchmaker who has such strong brand recognition?

Rolex is indeed in a very unique position...no other watchmaker has the brand name recognition. In fact, the Rolex brand name is one of the most admired brands of any company in the world, not just watches. And I agree that the stoic continuity they've maintained over the years is a big factor to their success.

Even compared to Coca Cola ? ;)

Great pictures from absolute great watches :gut:. Congrats to that complete Red Sub! You are a lucky man ;)
Ooooh, I like that charming colour, I do like yellow/beige indices very much. Thatīs the reason why that "Fat Lady" is my favourite watch these days.
Red Sub is great but not good for me for everyday because of superdomed glas,
safir crystal is what I need every day ;)
