Last year November, at the auction of the last Piccard Deepsea Rolex organised by Christie’s Mr. Bacs for the Piccard Archive charity, I was already in contact with Sir Edmund Hillary’s son Peter to discuss our new exciting project.

During Bertrand Piccard’s lecture prior to the auction, he unexpectedly showed below picture of Piccard and Hillary together. That’s when it struck me.
After the tribute to Piccard’s dive to the deepest point in sea, I realised I should pursue my dream of creating a special edition dedicated to the climb to Everest, the highest point on earth........

Today we start at Basecamp, a sneak preview of what is about to come....

Ja...einiges hatt sich geändert bei Rolex nach deren Baselnews..ausser die Explorer 1
die jetzt mehr in 'Heritage' style entwurfen ist mit mattem Blatt und non luminous Ziffern,
ist die Tudor Homeplate der erste Ansatz einer reproduction eines alten Models wovon bei
uns Sammlern das Herz direkt schneller von schlägt, ich fand es einfach toll!!
&
Balt gibt es hier mehr über die Hillary Explorer, habe mir gerade in Ruhe den BAsel World 2010 Video
angeschaut...schön!!! und ein haufen 'Hillary' zeigen die zwischendurch in deren neues Ausstrahlung :D

In der zwischenzeit, hier ne vintage Explorer mit seltenem Heriatge, Innendekel gepunzt 2tes Kwartal 1953, ne 6350 mit seltenem 'Honeycomb' Blatt und Serpico Y Laino dealerstempel aus Blatt & Ruckdeckel.
Wahrscheinlich einer der ersten Explorer mit in Schwartz die direct nach dem Erfolgreichem Expedition von Hillary am 29sten Mai 1953, also 2tes Kwartal 1953 wie hieroben. Der typischem 369 Luminous, der extra langer Stundenzeiger und die Gravure auf dem Ruckdekel, SyL Accero gibt an das diese Explorer in Caracas, Venezuela verkauft würden ist...Weiniger als ne Hand vol sind heute bekannt...
