Wie pflegt und reinigt man Pferdelederschuhe/ Neuvorstellung meiner Alden

Hallo,




habe mir heute ein Paar neue Schuhe gekauft.


Meine ersten echten....Alden Cordovan Long Wing Blucher (Black Shell Cordovan). Hier Fotos:















Da das meine allerersten Schuhe aus Pferdeleder sind und ich folglich ein absoluter Novize in der Pflege und Reinigung solch edler Schuhe bin, würde ich mich über Pflege- und Reinigungstipps von Euch sehr freuen. Vielen Dank vorab.

HAst eigentlich alles, was ich so sehe....viel Dreck vorsichtig abwaschen ohne Seife, gut trocknen lassen. Dann eincremen mit Bürste oder Lappen, Schrammen mit dem Rehlauf einarbeiten- trocknen lassen, bürsten. Zum Schluß etwas Wasser auf die Bürste ==> Hochglanz. Ich habe meine Pferdetreter teilweise schon 20 Jahre, werden immer schöner. Nur immer wieder neue Sohlen und Absätze und Innenfutter.

Edit sagt: reichlich Schnürsenkel kaufen, die gewachsten reißen schnell....

Der Fachhändler hat mir, wie auch auf dem Foto zu erkennen ist, diese "Cream" dazu verkauft. Soll ich die besser umtauschen gehen? Ist die "Cream" etwa nur für Boxcalf-Schuhe?

Sorry, dass ich mit solchen Fragen aufwarte, aber ich bin absoluter Neuling mit Pferdeledertretern und möchte nichts falsch machen.

Care Tips from Alden of Carmel

An Independent Shoe Store Selling Only Alden Shoes Since 1994

Since we began selling Alden Genuine Shell Cordovan shoes in 1994, we recognized a need to share with our customers what we know about the care of these special shoes. Cordovan leather is a unique material, which is tanned by the old-fashioned method of vegetable tannage, as opposed to the modern method of 'chrome' tannage. This means that cordovan leather already contains within it a large amount of oil/wax, and thus the polishing requirements of this leather are different from calfskin.
The most common mistake men make in caring for their cordovan shoes is using too much polish, and polishing the shoes too often. The excess polish creates a layer of build-up which has three negative effects: 1) it covers the natural beauty of the leather, 2) it creates a grainy texture in the creases of the shoes, 3) and the build-up of polish scuffs easily and attracts dust.
To avoid these effects, use only the thinnest film of polish when polishing your cordovan shoes. Just a very small amount, spread very thin over the shoe, is all that is needed to restore the color and luster to your cordovan shoes. You should not have to polish your cordovan shoes frequently, and often all that is needed is to brush and cloth them in order to remove scuffs and restore the shine.
After the polish is applied, let it dry. Once the polish is dry, we often wipe the excess polish off with a paper towel before brushing the shoes with our horsehair brush. Lastly, the remaining film of polish may be wiped away with a soft buffing cloth.

For shell cordovan shoes, Alden recommends using paste wax polish, and not shoe cream.

Here are the "don'ts" of shell cordovan care:
1. Do not use 'neutral' polish
2. Do not clean cordovan shoes using saddle soap
3. Do not attempt to clean cordovan shoes using petroleum distillates or cleaning fluids
4. Do not use any spray shines or aerosol type waterproofs
5. Do not attempt to dry wet shell cordovan shoes with heat or a heater. Wipe them dry, and allow them to dry naturally
6. Do not attempt to polish shell cordovan shoes while wet

For cleaning shell cordovan shoes, Alden recommends using only a damp soft cloth.

Contact with water can sometimes cause cordovan leather to form small raised areas called 'welts'. (tiny bumps) This is normal, and the welts will recede once the shoes are allowed to dry. Wipe the shoes dry as soon as convenient, and allow to dry naturally.
Often on new shell cordovan shoes, a white, waxy substance will form. This is also normal; the residue from the tanning of the leather. To remove the white wax, simply wipe off with a paper towel. To remove the wax in difficult areas, such as between stitches, use a toothbrush.

Uuuups, dachte die wären alltagstauglich. Bin eben in einen Wolkenbruch gekommen.

und wie sehn die jetzt aus ?

am besten sofort mit nem lappen trocken wischen. keine !! schuhspanner rein, erstmal so trocknen lassen...nach einpaar stunden oder morgen schuhspanner rein. (btw, ich empfehle die originalen alden spanner)

Das verstehe ich jetzt auch nicht. Auf der Seite http://www.lederzentrum.de/wiki/index.php/Pferdeleder wird ausgeführt, dass das Pferdeleder viel Fett enthält und daher wasserabweisend ist.

eincremen nur mit der nackten hand mit original aldenschuhcrema......ist aber nur für puristen und boys die etwas gaga sind......
reinpinkeln beim ersten mal ist auch nicht schlecht.....

Trage meine seit Jahren und auch im Regen. Mich störts nicht.

Nach Regen bekommen Cordovans eine Vielzahl kleiner, matt aussehender Blasen. Das sieht richtig Schaizze aus und dauert mitunter Wochen, bis die wieder vollständig verschwunden sind. Ist ein altbekanntes Problem und wurde auch hier im Forum schon ausgiebigst diskutiert. Ok, den einen störts (mich zB)' den anderen nicht. Manche störts ja auch nicht, wenn sie mit offenem Hosenstall durch die Stadt laufen oder beim Pupsen nen Kackfleck in die Hose machen.

Was nimmst Du denn für ein Wachs bei den Farbtönen Cigar oder Ravello?
Wird der Schuh durch das Tan-Wachs nicht zu dunkel?

Und bist du sicher mit dem Farbton Whiskey?
